Dear Reader

Thank you, that you take your time and visit the Garden Calendar.

I hope you will find some useful information and you will enjoy your time during reading.

Please consider that this Calendar is written for the Zone 5b-7. Central Ohio is in zone 5b. This zone has -10F to -15F average annual minimum winter temperatures. Plants can be selected that are hardy to a colder zone, but those selected from a warmer zone are considered "marginally hardy" and may not survive an average winter. Gardeners can certainly install such plants, but should be aware that they may be lost eventually. If you would like to know more about Hardiness Zones, please visit this website: Link - Hardiness Zones

This time of the year, gardeners get excited about adding trees, shrubs, ground covers and many other plants to the landscape. Make sure the space can accommodate the mature plant and that as the plant grows, it will not cause problems, such growing over a sidewalk or into overhead utility wires. Consider sunlight exposure, soil, pH, fertility and drainage, and wind exposure. Link - Functional use of Pants

Select plants based on what you want them to do for you and the landscape. The function you determine will help limit your choices. Now it`s time to select for the plant`s physical features that will enhance the landscape. Flowers, season of bloom, fruit, ornamental bark, growth habit, height, texture, color, variated foliage and other features can be considered. If you are looking for more information about your choosen plant try it here:Link - OSU Interactive Plant List

A good resarch for more additional Informantion is the OSU Factsheet Database. Link - OSU Factsheet Database

I will continually working on this Garden Calendar, so please check back. Please contact me if you have comments or questions.

Your sincerely
